Spurgeon's Prayer: Purity in Thought, Word, and Deed

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
— Psalm 51:10 (BSB)

A pure heart is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and the heart which seeks after purity shall have God dwelling in it.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, tonight we come before You with a desire for purity. We ask that You would create in us pure hearts, cleansed from sin, and renewed by Your Spirit. We long to live in such a way that our hearts, minds, and actions are pleasing to You. Help us to walk in purity, without sin, so that we may be a temple fit for Your Holy Spirit to dwell.

Lord, we pray for a renewed desire for holiness. In our thoughts, in our words, and in our deeds, may we reflect Your holiness and righteousness. Let nothing of the world taint our hearts or lead us away from You. May we be quick to turn from temptation, and may we seek after the things of the Spirit rather than the things of the flesh.

Father, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would continually cleanse and sanctify us. We cannot purify ourselves, but we trust in Your promise to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We surrender our hearts and lives to You, asking that You would sanctify us completely—spirit, soul, and body—so that we may be holy and blameless before You.

As we rest tonight, may our hearts be at peace, knowing that You are working in us to make us more like Christ. Renew our spirits, and help us to rise tomorrow with a fresh desire for purity and holiness in every part of our lives. Thank You, Lord, for the cleansing power of Your Spirit. Amen.
