Spurgeon's Prayer: Newness of Life in Christ
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (BSB)
New life is the hallmark of a true believer, and it must manifest itself in all areas of life.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, we come before You today rejoicing in the newness of life that we have in Christ. Because He died, we have died to the world, and because He lives, we live in newness of life. We thank You for this precious gift of life that Christ has given us through His death and resurrection.
Lord, we ask for the grace to live fully in this newness of life. Help us to put off the old self, with its worldly desires, and to walk in the freedom of the new creation that we are in Christ. May we live today as those who are alive in Christ, with hearts and minds set on things above, not on earthly things.
Father, we pray that You would make us useful for Your kingdom. Let us not waste our lives on worldly pursuits but give ourselves fully to the work of spreading the Gospel and bringing others to Christ. May our lives be a testimony to the new life we have found in You, and may others be drawn to the light of Christ shining in us.
Help us to remember that because Christ lives, we live. And because He died for us, we are called to die to the world and live for Him. Let us live today with this truth in our hearts, striving to bring others to the cross so that they too may find life in Christ.
Thank You, Lord, for the newness of life we have in You. May we live in that life today, walking in Your grace and bringing glory to Your name. Amen.
