Spurgeon's Prayer: The Sovereign Call of Grace

“I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’
— Isaiah 65:1 (BSB)

Grace does not ask for permission; it acts sovereignly, turning men at its will.
— Charles Spurgeon

Heavenly Father, we praise You today for Your sovereign grace. You have revealed Yourself to those who did not ask for You, and You have been found by those who did not seek You. We thank You for the power of Your grace that moves ahead of our will, calling us to Yourself when we were still lost in darkness.

Lord, we pray for those who are spiritually dead, those who have not yet called on Your name. Prove the power of Your grace by calling things that are not as though they were. May the day come when those in their graves will hear the voice of God, and those who hear will live. We long to see many brought to life by Your sovereign call.

Father, we often witness Your mighty power at work. We bless You for the many who have been called to Christ, for the hardened hearts that have softened, and for those who were once absorbed in worldly things but have now turned to seek You. We thank You for every soul that has been led to the cross, where they have found life through the death of our Savior.

As we begin this day, we ask for Your power to continue drawing hearts to You. We pray that those who are careless and indifferent might be compelled to sit down and consider eternal matters. May they be driven to You, dear Savior, and find life in Your name.

We rest today in the assurance that Your grace is sovereign and unstoppable. Thank You for calling us to Yourself, and may we see many more brought to life through Your grace. Amen.
