Spurgeon's Prayer: Anticipating Christ’s Return
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
— Revelation 22:20 (BSB)
The Church will not always remain in her low condition. The day is coming when the Lord Jesus will come again.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, as we come before You tonight, our hearts are filled with anticipation for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. You have promised that He will come again, and we pray with longing hearts, “Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly.” We look forward to the day when You will make all things new, when sin and death will be no more, and when we will dwell with You forever.
Lord, as we wait for Your return, help us to live faithfully. Keep us steadfast in our faith, and let us not grow weary in doing good. May we be found faithful when You come, living in obedience to Your Word and seeking to advance Your kingdom. Strengthen us to stand firm in the face of trials, and help us to live each day with the hope of Your coming.
Father, we rejoice in the hope of future glory. We know that this world is not our home, and we look forward to the day when we will be with You in Your eternal kingdom. Let this hope fill our hearts with joy and give us strength to persevere in the present. We pray that Your kingdom would come and that Your will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.
As we rest tonight, may we find peace in the promise of Christ’s return. Let this hope sustain us through every challenge we face, and may we live each day with the joy of knowing that our Savior is coming again. Until that day, keep us faithful, and may we live for Your glory. Amen.
