Spurgeon's Prayer: A Spirit of Unity and Holiness
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
— Psalm 133:1 (BSB)
We are not called to be Christians alone, but in fellowship with others.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, as we end this day, we lift up to You the Church—Your people across the world. We thank You for the bond of unity that we share in Christ, and we pray that You would continue to knit us together in love. How good and pleasant it is when Your people live in unity! We ask that You would strengthen the ties that bind us together, and that our unity would be a powerful testimony to the world of the love of Christ.
Lord, we pray for the purity of Your Church. We ask that You would cleanse us from anything that hinders our witness and that You would bring us back to the original purity of Christianity. Let holiness be our adornment, and may we be known as a people set apart for Your glory. Help us to live in a way that reflects Your holiness, and may we always seek to honor You in all that we do.
Father, we also pray for the work of the Church in spreading the Gospel. We ask that You would bless the efforts of Your people as they seek to win souls for Christ. Whether we are serving in our local communities or sending missionaries to the ends of the earth, may every effort be guided by Your Spirit and filled with Your power. Let the kingdom of Christ grow, and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
As we rest tonight, we ask that You continue to bless Your Church with unity, holiness, and success in its mission. Bind us together in love, and let our unity be a reflection of Your love for the world. Amen.
