Spurgeon's Prayer: Molding Our Lives to Christ’s Image
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
— 2 Corinthians 3:18 (BSB)
To be like Christ is to be a Christian.
— Charles Spurgeon
Dear Lord, we come before You tonight, asking that You would continue to mold us into the image of Christ. We confess that we are slow learners, and that the pull of our sinful nature often feels strong. The world around us is full of distractions and influences that seek to pull us away from You. Yet, we know that You are patient with us, and we thank You for Your steadfast love.
Help us, O Lord, to learn the lessons that Christ so perfectly demonstrated in His life—self-sacrifice, meekness, humility, fervor, boldness, and love. We long to live like Jesus, to follow in His footsteps, and to be transformed by the power of Your Spirit. But we know that this is a lifelong journey, and we ask for Your grace and patience as we grow. Mold us, O Lord, and teach us how to live like Christ.
Father, we desire to gaze upon Your glory and be transformed by what we see. As we spend time in Your presence, let our hearts be changed. Let the image of Christ be reflected in our actions, our words, and our thoughts. We pray that we would live lives that honor You, growing in Christlikeness with each passing day.
We ask for the humility to recognize that we are still learning, still growing, and that we have not yet reached perfection. But we trust in Your promise that You who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. As we rest tonight, we place ourselves in Your hands, knowing that You are shaping us into vessels for Your glory. Amen.
