Spurgeon's Prayer: The Power of the Holy Spirit

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
— Acts 1:8 (BSB)

Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind. We are useless.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, we cry out for the power of the Holy Spirit to be poured out upon Your Church. We acknowledge that without the Spirit, we can do nothing. We are like ships without wind, unable to move forward. But we know that when Your Spirit fills us, we are empowered to do all that You have called us to do. Come, Holy Spirit, and fill us afresh.

Father, we ask that You renew the power of Pentecost in our midst. In all of our gatherings, may the fire of Your Spirit fall, bringing life to what is dead and renewing what is slow and tired. We long to see Your Spirit move in power, reviving our hearts and filling us with a renewed passion for Christ. Exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in our midst, that He may be glorified in everything we do.

Lord, we pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit in our churches. May our worship be filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit, and may our hearts be set on fire with love for You. We ask that many be converted, coming to Christ with eagerness and joy, seeking refuge in Him as doves fly to their nests. Let Your Word go forth with power, changing hearts and transforming lives.

Father, we depend on You for everything. Fill us with the fullness of the Holy Spirit, that we may live lives that honor Christ. May the Spirit’s work in us shine brightly, leading others to see Jesus in all His glory. Amen.
