Spurgeon's Prayer: Prayer for Our Nation and Beyond
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
— Psalm 33:12 (BSB)
The gospel is good news of mercy to the undeserving. The symbol of the religion of Jesus is the cross, not the scales.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we come before You, lifting up our nation and all the nations of the world. We pray for Your blessing to be upon our land, that we may honor You and seek Your face. We ask that You pour out Your Spirit on our leaders, that they may govern with wisdom, justice, and righteousness. May this nation turn to You, recognizing that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
Lord, we also lift up the neighboring nations and all lands across the earth. We ask for Your mercy to be extended to every people, tribe, and tongue. Let Your name be known and revered in every corner of the world, and may the light of the gospel reach those who have never heard the good news of Jesus Christ. We pray for the outposts of Your kingdom, for the first messengers of mercy who bring the message of salvation to the lost.
Father, bless the missionaries, pastors, and evangelists who labor in difficult places. Strengthen them for the work You have called them to do. Give them boldness and perseverance, and let them see the fruit of their labor as many come to faith in Christ. We ask that Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Lord, may Your glory be known throughout the earth. Let Your kingdom expand, and may many souls be saved by the power of the gospel. We ask for Your blessing on our country, our neighbors, and the entire world, that Your name may be glorified. Amen.
