Spurgeon's Prayer: A Heart for the Lost

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
— Luke 19:10 (BSB)

If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, we come before You with heavy hearts for those who do not know You. We know that many are lost in sin, far from Your grace, and headed for destruction. It grieves us to think that so many will perish without ever hearing the gospel. Father, give us a heart that breaks for the lost. May we sigh and cry over the abominations done in our city, and may we be known to You as those who care deeply for the salvation of others.

Lord, help us to proclaim the gospel with compassion and urgency. We know that the time is short, and the need is great. Let us not be content to sit back and watch as people perish in their sin. Instead, may we be bold in sharing the good news of salvation in Christ. Give us the words to speak, and the love to speak them in a way that touches hearts and leads people to You.

We also pray for revival in our city, our nation, and the world. Father, we long to see Your Spirit move in power, bringing many to faith in Christ. Let there be a great awakening, where people turn from sin and embrace the life You offer in Jesus. Use us, Lord, as Your instruments of grace, to bring the light of the gospel to those who are in darkness.

Lord, may we never have hard hearts or be insensitive to the needs of others. Keep us from worldliness, and let our focus always be on Your kingdom and the salvation of souls. Amen.
