Spurgeon's Prayer: Anticipating Eternal Glory
I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
— Romans 8:18 (BSB)
Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we lift our eyes to the eternal glory that awaits us in heaven. We know that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the joy and glory we will experience when we are with You. It is only a little while longer before we reach the golden shore. Only a little more fighting before we receive the crown of life that never fades away.
Lord, give us strength to endure the trials we face today. Help us to lift our hearts above the sorrows of this world, fixing our eyes on the joy set before us. We know that You are preparing us for eternal glory, and we long for the day when we will be with You, free from all pain, sorrow, and suffering.
Come, Holy Spirit, and lift us up on Your wings. Carry us above the lesser sorrows and joys of this world, and let us live today in joyful anticipation of the eternal life we will share with You. Strengthen us for the battles we face, and let us live with the hope of heaven in our hearts.
