Spurgeon's Prayer: Reviving the Church in Love and Holiness

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit.
— Psalm 51:12 (BSB)

The very church which the world likes best is sure to be that which God abhors.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, tonight we lift up Your church to You, asking for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit to revive us. We have heard Your message to the churches, and we know it applies to us as well. Lord, don’t let us lose our first love. Revive the passion we once had for You, and restore the joy of our salvation. We fear that we are not what we once were, but we know that all our help comes from You.

Father, cleanse our hearts and renew our spirits. We need Your divine touch to restore the church’s love, confidence, boldness, and dedication. Bring us back to the holiness we once knew, and let us walk in the light of Your Word. Give us hearts that burn with passion for Your glory and hands ready for service in Your kingdom.

Lord, we ask that You wash us clean and set us on the path of righteousness once again. Bless us with Your divine favor, and guide us as we seek to be a light in this world. Help us reflect Your love, mercy, and truth to those around us, and may we stand as a testimony to Your grace.

As we rest tonight, we pray that You will restore and revive us. Visit every heart in the church and bring us closer to You. Let Your light shine brightly through us, that we may glorify Your name in all we do.
