Spurgeon's Prayer: Overcoming Fear and Anxiety

Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
— 1 Peter 5:7 (BSB)

Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, as the evening falls, we come before You with the burdens of the day. Some of us carry worries and fears that weigh heavy on our hearts, but tonight, we choose to cast our anxieties upon You, knowing that You care for us deeply. You have invited us to bring our concerns to You, and we trust that You will bear them for us. Teach us, Lord, to lay our burdens at Your feet, trusting that You are in control of every circumstance.

We ask for strength to overcome fear, Lord. In moments when anxiety threatens to overwhelm us, remind us that You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Help us to rest in the peace that comes from knowing You are with us, even in the storm. Give us the courage to trust in Your care and to believe that You are working all things together for our good.

As we face tomorrow, may we do so with faith, not fear. Let us trust that no matter what challenges may come, You are already there, making a way for us. We are not alone, and we need not be afraid, for You go before us and walk beside us. We thank You, Lord, for Your constant presence and Your loving care. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
