Spurgeon's Prayer: Trusting in God’s Timing

The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
— 2 Peter 3:9 (BSB)

God’s timing is never early, never late, but always perfect.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, as we bring this day to a close, we come before You, trusting in Your perfect timing. We know that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your plans for us are good. Help us to trust in Your timing, even when we do not understand it. Remind us that You are always working for our good, and that Your promises are sure.

Lord, we ask for patience as we wait for the fulfillment of Your promises. Sometimes the waiting is difficult, but we know that You are not slow in keeping Your word. You are patient and purposeful, desiring that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. Help us to wait with hope, knowing that Your timing is always right.

We also ask for contentment and peace as we rest in Your sovereign care. Let us not be anxious about the future, but trust that You hold all things in Your hands. Teach us to find joy in the present moment, and to rest in the assurance that You are in control of every detail of our lives.

As we close this day, we lay down our concerns and anxieties before You. We trust that You will work all things for good, according to Your purpose. Thank You for Your faithfulness, and we rest in Your promises tonight. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
