Spurgeon's Prayer: Confessing and Resting in God's Grace

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
— 1 John 1:9 (BSB)

You stand before God as if you were Christ, because Christ stood before God as if He were you.
— Charles Spurgeon

Gracious Lord, as we close this day, we come before You with humble hearts, confessing our sins. We recognize that we are unworthy of the many blessings You have poured out on us, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Cleanse us, Lord, from all unrighteousness, and wash away anything that has come between us and You today.

We thank You for the assurance of Your grace. Even though we are not worthy, You are rich in mercy and faithful to forgive. We rest in the knowledge that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We ask that You remove any stain of sin from our hearts, and may we feel the joy of Your forgiveness tonight.

Lord, if there has been any thought or action that has grieved Your Spirit today, we ask for Your cleansing. Wash our feet, Lord, as You did for Your disciples, and restore to us the joy of our salvation. We are grateful that Your grace covers us and that through the blood of Jesus, we are made clean.

As we prepare to rest, we ask for Your peace to settle over our hearts. Let us rest in the assurance that we are forgiven, cleansed, and loved by You. We thank You for Your unending grace, and we trust in Your mercy to keep us close to You.
