Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who acquires understanding, — Prov 3:13 BSB
It is worth taking time to study what the Bible says about happiness and how to find it. Everyone wants to be happy, but many miss the way.
However, those who follow the Bible’s path to happiness will not be disappointed. “Happy is the man who finds wisdom.”
Wisdom is more than knowledge. A person may know a great deal, may be a walking encyclopedia of facts, and yet not be happy. He can search for knowledge in every corner of the world, gather it from nature, science, and the stars above, but still not find happiness. Merely knowing things does not make one wise.
Wisdom is knowledge applied to life. A person who has found wisdom is someone who has learned to live well. Living well means living according to God’s laws, which are summed up in one word: love—love for God and love for others. No one can truly be happy without recognizing God and doing His will. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Similarly, no one can be truly happy without loving their fellow human beings. Happiness can never be found in selfishness. Those who seek happiness by only thinking, working, and striving for themselves will never find it. Happiness lies in love, service, and finding rest in Christ.
