Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, — Eph 3:20 BSB

God often does better for us than we ask.

We come to Him with small requests. We are in need and ask for temporary relief. We are suffering and ask for the pain to end. We may be poor and ask for more money. Like beggars, we hold out our hands for a little help to get through the day. Then God looks down and says, “My child, are these little things all you want from Me? Are daily bread, clothing, and comfort for your troubles the only things you desire from your heavenly Father, who has infinite riches to give you?”

Many people never ask for more than these worldly comforts. They bow before God each day, the God of infinite power and love, but their requests never rise above the things that sustain the body or improve their earthly lives. They don’t think to ask for the spiritual treasures that God has in abundance for their souls.

We should learn to ask for the best things in God’s storehouse.

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:1-2)
