You have been wandering around this hill country long enough; turn to the north — Deut 2:3 BSB

We should never be content to live this year the same way we lived the last. Anyone striving for the best things must always be moving forward and upward. Even as we go through the regular routines of daily life, doing the same tasks again and again, we should still be growing. We ought to do those same things a little better each day. And while the outer routines stay the same, our inner life should be deepening in sincerity, strength, and purpose.

But some people just go around in circles year after year, without ever progressing. They’re like runners in a race who cover a lot of distance but end up right where they started. Instead, our lives should be like someone walking around a mountain, getting a little higher with each lap, until they finally reach the top and can look into the face of God. Yes, we’ll do the same things each day, but we should do them a little better every time.
