Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. — Heb 7:25 BSB

If our gracious Lord did not live to make intercession for us, He could not be said to save us to the uttermost. But because He lives eternally at God’s right hand, constantly interceding and presenting the fragrance of His mediation, we have a sure pledge of His love, His compassion, and His power. Is this not immensely encouraging for all who come to God through Him? And can we not say, "Lord, that’s us—we do come, we come to You daily through Jesus Christ"? How much we need this encouragement, especially when we are weighed down by temptation, trial, and the many afflictions of life.

How blessed it is to trace even the smallest sign of grace in your soul when everything else seems lost from view. If you know anything about the work of grace within, you know whether you have come, or whether you are coming, to God through Jesus Christ. It’s simple, but profound. Have you come as one cast out? Have you come as one who feels ready to perish? The gospel’s great trumpet sounds for such as these, calling them to come in faith, hope, and love. Have you come and found even a small sense of acceptance in your heart? Some may say, "With all my doubts, fears, and struggles, I can honestly answer that I have come to God through Jesus Christ and have felt the blessing of it."

If that’s true, you have experienced something of what it means to be saved to the uttermost. And the more you know of this uttermost salvation, the more you will treasure grace, cling to the Son of God, and rest on His finished work. You will look continually to Him, who graciously says, "Look unto me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else."
