After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. — Mark 16:19 BSB

The "right hand of God" signifies power, dominion, authority, and acceptance. When our blessed Lord returned to the courts of heaven and the gates were lifted to welcome the King of glory, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. What did this exalted position mean? It signaled to principalities, powers, and the entire angelic host that God had accepted His work and rewarded Him with the place of highest power, honor, and dignity.

Remember, our Lord ascended to heaven in His human nature. He did not return to heaven only as the Son of God, as He had descended. No, He went back as both the Son of man and the Son of God, taking with Him the human nature He had assumed on earth. He entered heaven as the God-man, Immanuel—God with us.

This is an important truth to remember, especially for every spiritual worshiper and true believer in the Son of God. Our Lord now sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high in the same human body He wore on earth, though now glorified beyond comprehension. It is the same pure, spotless, holy, immortal humanity that He took on in the womb of the Virgin and offered as a sacrifice on the cross. This is the point the Apostle wants us to focus on, drawing our attention to this incredible truth (Romans 8:34). What an object of faith it is! When we see Jesus at the right hand of God, we see our mediator, the man Christ Jesus. We see our advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. We see our brother, friend, and husband enthroned in glory, reigning and ruling until all enemies are placed under His feet.
