sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. — 2 Cor 6:10 BSB

How do we possess all things? By possessing Christ, who is the heir of all things. If we possess Christ, what do we lack? In Him, we have wisdom to guide us, righteousness to justify us, sanctification to make us holy, and redemption to deliver us from sin, death, and hell. In possessing Him, we have God's favor and love, forgiveness for our sins, reconciliation with God, and a title to a heavenly crown. In Christ, we have everything, for Christ is ours, and Christ is God's. Therefore, in Him, we possess all things. In this life, He will provide us with everything necessary to carry us to the grave—He will give us what is for our good and withhold nothing that is for our benefit.

When the world faces death, what does it have? Nothing but the fearful prospect of God’s anger and judgment. But the child of God, when death comes, looks forward to a crown of life, a mansion in heaven, a smiling God, and the assurance of sitting down at the marriage supper of the Lamb. So, though the saints may possess little in this world, they possess all things in Christ. And possessing a heavenly crown, what more can God give?
