Giving God Pleasure
The LORD is pleased with those who fear Him, who hope in His loving devotion. — Ps 147:11 BSB
God takes pleasure in our faith. “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6), but the reverse is also true—our faith, no matter how small, is precious to Him. Even the touch of faith, like the hem of His garment, pleases Him.
God works in us both to will and to do according to His good pleasure. The Apostle tells us to walk in a way that pleases God. But how can we walk in such a way? It is not within our power to please Him on our own. Yet, how comforting to know that if we work out what He works in, and yield ourselves to Him, He will perfect us in every good work, enabling us to do His will (Hebrews 13:21).
There are many ways we can please God. Generosity is a well-pleasing sacrifice, acceptable to Him. Obedience is also well-pleasing to the Lord. A holy and humble walk with God, like Enoch’s, will bring the testimony that it pleases Him. Let us strive not to disappoint God, but to “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him.”
Prayer
O God, we ask that You make us into what You desire us to be, so that we may perfectly please You and worthily magnify Your Holy Name. Amen.
