Grace Abounding!
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. — 2 Cor 9:8 BSB
Abundance is characteristic of God! Step outside on a spring morning and see the fields carpeted with flowers—daisies, buttercups, primroses, cowslips—all a testimony to God's creative power and beauty. This lavish display is reflected in the heavens, where constellations stretch out beyond human comprehension. How infinite is God's creation!
But what can we say of His grace? His joy is unspeakable, His peace surpasses understanding, and His love is beyond knowledge! We must have great thoughts of God, who holds the ocean depths in His hand and weighs mountains like grains of dust. Lie in a field of flowers and consider their multitude; look through a telescope at the vastness of the skies; try counting the grains of sand on the shore or the shells scattered along the beach. When you have grasped the immensity of His creation, consider the love in His heart for you. He loved you so much that He gave His only Son for your salvation. He has set His love upon you and will certainly deliver you. All the resources of eternity and infinity are at His disposal, and He can make all grace abound to you so that in all things, at all times, you will have all that you need to do every good work.
This is a wonderful promise! Count the universals in this verse: all grace, always, all sufficiency, all things. God's grace overflows to us so that we may overflow to others. Our Lord said, "I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly." Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more (John 10:10; Rom 5:20).
But remember, God does not pour into us unless we pour out to others. If we are filled with Christ’s presence and grace, we must give ourselves away in service to others.
Prayer
Give me grace, O Lord, to see the beauty in the commonplaces of life and to feel Your nearness. Life is just as wonderful now as when people saw You in the days of Your flesh. Amen.
