Light In Darkness

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned. — Isa 9:2 BSB

Just as everyone was affected by the first man, Adam, so everyone has a claim on Jesus Christ, the second Man. His death, resurrection, and ascension affect us all. He is the Light that has shined in our hearts, giving us the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Because Christ was held by Mary as a child and cradled in her arms, we have been delivered from darkness. Through His Cross, we can rise above even angels and principalities and be seated with Him in glory.

“Unto us a Child is born!” He is Wonderful because, in Him, the most incredible extremes meet. He is a newborn baby, yet He is the Ancient of Days who fills all things. He grows in knowledge, yet in Him are stored all the treasures of wisdom. He hangs in agony on the Cross, yet He gives life to countless multitudes. He is laid in a borrowed tomb, yet He lives forever, and death has no hold on Him!

He is our Counselor. Bring Him the questions of your heart, and He will not lead you astray. He is the Prince of Peace, and His government over your life will only increase as the years go by, bringing deeper joy and peace.

What will you say to the claim of Christ today? I urge you to place all the matters of your life upon His shoulders. In doing so, you will discover a joy and peace you have never known—joy beyond measure, peace that surpasses all understanding (Isaiah 9:3).

Prayer

We thank You, God, for the gift of Your Son; for all He has done for us and all He will continue to do. We know that He holds us in His strong hands, that He loves us with an unbreakable love, and that nothing can separate us from Him. Amen.
