Today’s Quote

To leave Christ, the fountain of living waters, for the muddy streams of the world, is the height of folly.

— Matthew Henry

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

O true believer, called by grace and washed in the precious blood of Jesus, you have tasted a better drink than the river of this world’s pleasure can offer. You have had fellowship with Christ; you have experienced the joy of seeing Jesus and resting your head on His chest. Can the trifles, songs, honors,

and merriment of this earth satisfy you after that? If you are wandering after the waters of Egypt, oh, return quickly to the one living fountain. The waters of Egypt may be sweet to the Egyptians, but they will only bring bitterness to you. What business do you have with them? Jesus asks you this question—how will you answer Him?

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

October 21

In some parts of the world, there is no long twilight before dawn—the sun rises suddenly, darkness flees, and light reigns. So it is with many of the Lord’s redeemed: in a moment, their ashes are exchanged for beauty. Faith is the great transformer. Will

you cast yourself now, whether in life or death, upon the precious blood and merits of the Savior Jesus Christ? If you do, you are saved; your sins, which are many, are immediately forgiven.
