Psalm 84:10
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (KJV)
For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. (BSB)

Certainly spending just one day in your temple courts is better than spending a thousand elsewhere. I would rather stand at the entrance to the temple of my God than live in the tents of the wicked. (NET)

Spurgeon’s Daily Help
“If we walk in the light, as he is in the light.” —1 John 1:7. As he is in the light! Can we ever achieve that? Can we ever walk as perfectly in the light as the One we call “Our Father,” about whom it is written, “God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all”? Certainly, this is the model set
before us, for Jesus himself said, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” And though we may feel we can never match God’s perfection, we are still called to strive for it and never be satisfied until we reach it.

As long as a person can pray, they are never far from the light; they are at the window, even if the curtains haven’t yet been drawn. A person who can pray holds the key to escaping the labyrinth of affliction. Like trees in winter, you might say of the
praying person, when their heart is deeply troubled, “Their substance is still in them even when they have shed their leaves” (Isaiah 6:13). So, troubled soul, “pray without ceasing.”

Spurgeon’s Quote
The object of all true preaching is the heart. Godly ministers aim at divorcing the heart from sin, and wedding it to Christ.
