Today’s Verse

Matthew 6:24

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (KJV)

No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (BSB)

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

When it comes to your soul and faith, you can’t hold two different opinions. If God is truly God, then serve Him wholeheartedly; but if you think the world is your god, then serve it, but don’t pretend to be religious. If you believe the things of this world are the best, then go ahead and follow them.

But remember, if the Lord is your God, you can’t also serve other gods like Baal; you have to choose one or the other. "No one can serve two masters." If you choose to serve God, He will be your Master; and if you choose to serve the devil, he will also become your master before long. "You can’t serve two masters." Be wise, and don’t think you can mix the two.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

No flowers are as beautifully blue as those that grow at the foot of a frozen glacier; no stars shine as brightly as those that twinkle in the polar sky; no fountain is as refreshing as one that springs up in the desert; and no faith is as precious as

the kind that lives and triumphs in adversity. "Lord, I believe. Help me overcome my unbelief."
