Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. — 1 Pet 5:7 BSB
There are some things that God simply won’t tolerate in us, and we must let them go. Nehemiah refused to engage with Sanballat about his accusations and fears; he wouldn’t even go into the temple to pray about it. How few things in life actually require our attention! If we would only let go of all the unnecessary things and focus on the tasks that genuinely demand our attention from morning to night, we’d realize that life is but a small, slender thread. Instead, we load it with countless imaginary burdens and worries that, if we trusted more, would never have troubled us. A wise old saint once reflected, "I’ve had many troubles in my life, especially those that never came."
Trust and rest with heart abiding,
Like a birdling in its nest,
Underneath His feathers hiding,
Fold thy wings and trust and rest.
Trust and rest, trust and rest,
God is working for the best.
