Today’s Quote

We should take heed of pride, it is the sin that turned angels into devils!

— Matthew Henry

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Giving to others is like planting seeds for yourself. The one who is a good steward, willing to use what they have for the Lord, will be trusted with even more. Friend of Jesus, are you giving to Him according to the blessings you’ve received? Much has been given to you—what have you produced? Have you

done everything you can? Can you do more? To be selfish is to be sinful. God forbid that any of us should follow the selfish and destructive path of living only for ourselves. Jesus didn’t live to please Himself. All fullness dwells in Him, but from His fullness, we have all received. Oh, for the spirit of Jesus, so that from now on we may live not for ourselves!

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

December 15

A dark cloud doesn’t mean the sun has lost its light; and dark thoughts don’t mean God has stopped being merciful. Destruction and wrath may roar like thunder, but mercy speaks louder. Get beneath the tree where Jesus died, and not a drop of God’s wrath

will fall on you. Don’t be afraid to come, for the angels you see are not there to keep you away, but to welcome you in.

Spurgeon’s Quote

You will be as surely damned by your righteousness, if you trust in it, as you will by your sins.
