Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth. — 1 John 3:18 BSB
More and more, Christians are learning that true faith must be expressed through daily living. A sound creed and active participation in Christian work are not the best measures of Christlikeness. The real test is Christian character and the demonstration of spiritual virtues in everyday interactions.
To put it simply, love is the true measure of Christian life. Becoming a Christian is letting God’s love enter our hearts. This love cannot be hidden. If the love of God is in our hearts, it will naturally show itself in our lives. The love of God does not dwell in someone who does not love their neighbor. The closer we come to the heart of Christ, the deeper and more tender our care for others becomes.
