Today’s Quote

The Bible is God’s chart for you to steer by, to keep you from the bottom of the sea, and to show you where the harbor is, and how to reach it without running on the rocks!

— H.W. Beecher

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Coming to Christ is the one essential thing for a sinner’s salvation. Anyone who doesn’t come to Christ is still in the "gall of bitterness and the bondage of sin." Coming to Christ is the first sign of a soul being made alive. As soon as the soul is quickened, it realizes its lost state, looks for refuge,

and, believing that Christ is the only one, rushes to Him and finds rest in Him. If someone hasn’t come to Christ, it’s certain that they haven’t been made alive; where there’s no quickening, the soul is still dead in sin, and being dead, it cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

April 2

The blood of the martyrs is the royal robe of the Church of Christ; the trials and persecutions of believers are her crown of thorns. When you think of the fierce persecution in every land, you can see that the symbol of Christ’s kingdom is a crown of

thorns. A crown, yet made of thorns; thorns, but still a crown. This is also the emblem of every soldier of the cross.

Spurgeon’s Quote

The furnace of affliction is a good place for you, Christian. It benefits you, it helps you to become more like Christ, and it is fitting you for Heaven.
