As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee: — Luke 24:5-6 BSB
The empty tomb teaches us incredible lessons. Standing before it, we are first assured that Jesus truly died. Pilate made an official inquiry to confirm the fact before allowing His burial.
Any lingering doubt about His death was erased when the soldier pierced His side with a spear. The linen that had wrapped His body still lay there, and the napkin that covered His face was neatly folded. Look carefully at the place—He was indeed there, and He was dead.
It is crucial to grasp this truth, for our redemption rests upon Christ’s death. But the tomb is now empty, and that emptiness proclaims a blessed truth to all believers.
Jesus rose from the dead, and so shall all who sleep in Him rise from their graves when He comes again.
