let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel — Prov 1:5 BSB
A wise person never stops learning. They never reach a point where they feel satisfied with what they’ve achieved.
Many people start life with great promise, but then they lose momentum and fail to fulfill their early potential. Often, this happens because they become complacent after their first successes. When growth stops, decay begins.
An old artist had a motto: “Nulla dies sine linea” (No day without a line). Every day, he would add one line to his work, always striving to improve.
This is an excellent motto for life, whether young or old. Every day, we should learn something new, adding to our store of knowledge. Every day, we should learn a new lesson for living better.
This applies not only to our professional lives but also to our spiritual lives. Each day should bring us one step closer to becoming more like Christ.
