For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” — Rom 4:3 BSB
There is a way to reach the mountaintop.
The best efforts of even the holiest person fall short of the glory of God. But God’s mercy reaches down and builds a bridge across the chasm. Jesus said, “I am the way... no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
There’s a story about two brothers crossing a frozen lake. When they came to a crack in the ice, the younger brother couldn’t get across. His older brother laid down across the crack, forming a bridge with his body, and the younger brother crossed safely.
That’s what Jesus did for us. Humanity couldn’t cross the great divide between sin and glory, so Jesus laid down His life to become the bridge. Through Him, anyone who chooses may cross and reach the Father.
The word “justified” means that those who accept Christ’s redemption are seen as if they had never sinned. Their sins are completely taken away. All we need to do is accept Christ.
