As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. — Rom 3:10 BSB
A preacher once shared how an officer of his church told him that in today’s age of intelligence and liberal thinking, it’s better not to preach about sin.
This chapter from Romans would likely be ruled out in that church, considered unfit for the pulpit.
But the chapter remains in the Bible, and it will be relevant for a long time. If there were no sin, there would be no need for Christ’s redemption.
The cross stands against the terrible reality of sin. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The word “sin” means to miss the mark.
God’s glory is like a shining peak, but humanity is stuck at the base of the mountain, helpless to climb its steep cliffs. Sin leaves us all far from hope.
Without intervention, no one could ever reach the glory of God.
