But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” — 1 Cor 15:35 BSB
The future life remains a mystery to us.
What kind of bodies will we have when we are raised? We don’t know. Everything people tell us about this is mere speculation. No one has gone through death and returned to tell us about it—no one except Jesus.
Paul’s illustration of the seed means that our resurrected bodies will be the same, yet different. The seed sown doesn’t come up as a seed, but as something more beautiful—a plant full of life, leaves, blossoms, and fruit.
This tells us that the resurrection body will be far more glorious than the one we lay in the grave. Paul says elsewhere that our humble bodies will be transformed. We can trust God with this mystery, knowing that “no mind can conceive the blessings God has prepared for those who love Him.”
