Suddenly a leper came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” — Matt 8:2 BSB

We receive from Christ according to our faith. The leper who said, “If You are willing, You can make me clean,” showed great faith, and Jesus responded, “I am willing.” The centurion also had remarkable faith. He didn’t feel worthy to have Jesus enter his home, but he believed that just a word from Jesus would be enough to heal his servant. Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law by simply touching her hand.

There are other kinds of fevers besides physical ones—fevers of anxiety, worry, or discontent. If we allow Jesus to touch us, His calming presence can bring peace and healing to our troubled hearts. On the boat during the storm, Jesus showed both peace, by sleeping through it, and power, by calming the wind and waves. We can trust Him in life’s wildest storms. No harm can come to us when He is with us.
