While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.” — Matt 9:18 BSB

There’s nothing Jesus cannot do. This ruler had no doubt that Jesus could heal his dying child. We can have the same faith in Christ when our loved ones are sick. If they pass away, we can trust that it was God’s loving will for them. If it had been best, He would have healed them.

Much of Jesus’ ministry happened along the way, as He was traveling. He was on His way to heal the ruler’s child when the woman touched the hem of His garment and was healed.

Good people often help others even without realizing it. Just by going about their daily lives, those who come near them receive help, much like touching the hem of their garments. However, Jesus’ power to heal always responds to faith. When the blind men cried out to Him for mercy, He first asked, “Do you believe I can do this?” Without faith, they would not have been healed. Many of our prayers fail because we do not truly believe.
