Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: — Matt 11:4 BSB

Even the best of people may sometimes experience doubt. John the Baptist, while imprisoned, began to wonder if Jesus was truly the Messiah. The right thing to do with our doubts is to take them to Jesus, just as John did. Christ is patient with our weaknesses and will clarify what confuses us.

The greatest evidence of Christ’s divinity is what Christianity accomplishes in the world. Jesus reassured John by pointing to the acts of kindness He performed for the poor and troubled. The fruits of Christianity are seen in the lives it changes and the blessings it leaves in its wake. It is a serious responsibility to hear the gospel of Christ. If we accept it, we gain great blessings, but if we reject it, it would be better if we had never heard it at all. Christ invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest.
