One night at Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!” — 1 Kgs 3:5 BSB

Solomon was just beginning his reign when God came to him in a dream. The question God asked Solomon is one He asks every young person: What will you choose? Someone might say, "If God gave me my choice, I would choose wisely too."

But God does give us that same privilege—our choice of all good things. Doesn’t Christ say, "Ask, and you shall receive"?

Each day is like a messenger from God, offering us blessings. Yet we often settle for simple things and let greater blessings pass by.

"But why must I choose?" someone may ask. "God is wiser than I am. He knows what’s best for me. Why doesn’t He choose for me?"

One of the mysteries of life is that we must make our own choices. Even God cannot choose for the weakest of His children.
