Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea. — John 21:7 BSB
We all have friends we could recognize by their actions alone.
Out of a hundred voices, we know the voice of someone dear to us. Even the sound of their footsteps outside the door, though we cannot see them, tells us it’s them.
Are we as quick to recognize Christ by the blessings He brings? Every success in life should move us to say, “It is the Lord.” Every blessing we receive comes from Jesus, who stands unseen beside us, gifting us with His love. He is present in every circumstance of our lives.
Some of those circumstances may be dark and confusing, but in the shadows, that mysterious figure standing with us is the Lord. Do we always recognize Him? If we did, wouldn’t it often quiet our fears and fill our hearts with peace?
