“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matt 4:19 BSB

We must be ready to give up anything that Christ asks us to let go of in order to be united with Him. We have to become His disciples before we can be effective workers for Him.

The first step is always a personal commitment to Christ, breaking away from all other allegiances, and dedicating ourselves fully to Him.

Once we’ve joined Him, He gives us a mission. The world is like a deep, dark sea, filled with lost souls drowning in the waters of sin. The work of Christ and His followers is to rescue these lost ones from the darkness and bring them to safety.

Sometimes the waters we’re called to enter are filthy, but we shouldn’t shy away from the work because of that. Christ Himself entered the darkest waters of sin to find and save the lost. He saved a woman known for her sin, a tax collector, and even a thief dying on a cross.
