Morning

“Surely the Lord is in this place, but I did not realize it!” — Gen 28:16 NET

“For where two or three are assembled in my name, I am there among them.”—“Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”—“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee to escape your presence? If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be.—“Do you people think that I am some local deity and not the transcendent God?” the Lord asks. “Do you really think anyone can hide himself where I cannot see him?” the Lord asks. “Do you not know that I am everywhere?” the Lord asks.

“God does not really live on the earth! Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!”—For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.”—We are the temple of the living God.

Evening

Little children, guard yourselves from idols. — 1 John 5:21 NET

Give me your heart, my son.—Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth.

“Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek me?”—So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.—Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap. For the love of money is the root of all evils. Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains. But you, as a person dedicated to God, keep away from all that.

If wealth increases, do not become attached to it!—My fruit is better than the purest gold, and what I produce is better than choice silver.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”—“The Lord looks at the heart.”
