Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him. But if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people did not answer a word. — 1 Kgs 18:21 BSB

It is strange that people think a consecrated life is a difficult one. A simple example will dispel this notion. Imagine a streetcar driver saying, "It’s easier to run with one wheel on the track and the other off." Such a driver would quickly lose his job, and people would prefer to walk. Of course, it is much easier to run with both wheels on the track, and to keep them there. Likewise, it is much easier to follow Christ wholeheartedly than to do so half-heartedly and hesitantly. The prophet was right when he asked, "How long will you waver between two opinions?" An undecided person is a halting person—a lame and miserable person. But the fully committed Christian is a joy to himself, admired by men and angels alike.

Say, is it all for Jesus,
As you so often sing?
Is He your Royal Master,
Is He your heart's true King?
