So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was fervently praying to God for him. — Acts 12:5 BSB
Prayer is the link that connects us to God. It’s the bridge that spans every chasm and carries us safely over every abyss of danger or need. Look at the early church: Peter was in prison, the Jews were triumphant, Herod was in control, and the arena was set for Peter’s execution. Everything seemed lost. But prayer was made to God without ceasing. And what happened? The prison doors opened, Peter was freed, the Jews were confounded, Herod was struck down, and the Word of God continued to spread with even greater power.
Do we truly understand the power of this supernatural weapon? Do we dare to use it with the authority of a faith that commands as well as asks? May God fill us with holy boldness and divine confidence. He’s not looking for great men, but for men who dare to prove the greatness of their God.
But God! But prayer!
