But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’ — Luke 12:20 BSB
What more do we really need? What is God trying to make us understand? The religion of the Bible is entirely supernatural. The one resource of faith has always been the living God, and Him alone. The children of Israel depended completely on Jehovah as they journeyed through the wilderness, and their enemies feared them because they recognized the presence of a King among them—a King whose strength made all opposition futile.
Moses asked, "How will we be distinguished from all other peoples except by Your presence?"
A church that relies on human wisdom, wealth, or resources ceases to be the body of Christ and becomes an earthly society. But when we dare to depend entirely on God, even the humblest and weakest efforts will be mighty through God for pulling down strongholds. May the Holy Spirit always give us His understanding of those two powerful words: But God.
