Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness. — Ps 29:2 BSB
Someone once remarked that the most disagreeable people they knew were "sanctified Christians." They were likely referring to people who only profess sanctification. There’s a certain hard, angular type of Christian character that isn’t true holiness—at least, not the highest form. It’s like the bare skeleton without the flesh to cover it or the rough rock without the vines and foliage to soften it. Jesus wasn’t only virtuous and pure; He was also beautiful and full of the sweet attractiveness of love.
The Bible speaks of two kinds of graces: "Whatever is just, whatever is lovely and of good report." There are many small graces in the Christian life that we can’t afford to overlook. The finishing touches in any work of art often take the most time, and so it is with God. He often spends much time teaching us what others might consider "little things."
God wants His bride to be without spot or wrinkle.
