And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues. — 1 Cor 12:28 BSB
In the apostle's lists of church leaders, the "helps" are mentioned even before the "governments." Through the ministry of prayer, giving, encouragement, a warm smile, a comforting handshake, a small word of cheer, and in countless other ways, we can all follow in the footsteps of Aquila and Priscilla if we choose to. It is a great grace to rejoice in the work of others and to pour our lives, like rivers, into greater streams. God knows the source of every drop, and on the day of recompense, many of the "helps" will receive the chief reward. Beloved, are you helping? Are you supporting your pastor, your brother, your husband, your mother, or your fellow worker? When the harvest comes, will both the one who sows and the one who reaps rejoice together?
You can help by holy prayer,
Helpful love and joyful song,
Oh, the burdens you may bear,
Oh, the sorrows you may share,
Oh, the crowns you yet may wear,
If you help along.
