so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. — Rom 8:4 BSB
Beloved friends, do you know the mistake some of you are making? Some of you say, “It’s impossible for me to be good; no one has ever been perfect, so there’s no point in trying.” That’s the mistake many of you are making. I agree with the first part—no one has ever been perfect—but I don’t agree with the second part: that there’s no point in trying. There is a divine righteousness available to us. I don’t just mean the righteousness that pardons your sins—I believe in that too—but I mean something more. I mean the righteousness that comes into your soul and integrates with every fiber of your being. I’m talking about Christ: your life, your purity, making you feel as Christ feels, think as Christ thinks, love as Christ loves, hate as Christ hates, and become partakers of the divine nature. This is God’s righteousness, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us—not by us, but in us. It’s not just our hands and feet but our very instincts, desires, and nature aligning with His. Do you have Him, dear friends? He will come and fulfill all righteousness in you if you open your heart to Him today.
