I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. — John 15:11 BSB

There is a joy that bubbles up in the heart without any external cause—it is like an artesian well, naturally overflowing. This joy rejoices simply because it cannot help it. It is the glory of God, the heart of Christ, the divine joy of which He said, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” It is the kind of joy no one can take away.

Those who possess this joy are not discouraged by their surroundings. Often, they are surprised by the deep and sweet gladness that comes seemingly without reason, especially when everything around them should bring sorrow or discouragement.

It is the nightingale in the heart, singing even at night, because that’s its nature. It is the heavenly, incorruptible joy that belongs to eternity and anticipates the everlasting song.

Lord, give me this joy in all circumstances today, and let my heart overflow in blessing to others.
