Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, — Phil 3:13 BSB

One of Satan's favorite roles is that of the switchman. He loves nothing more than to divert one of God's express trains—filled with holy purpose and on a blessed mission—from its course.

Something comes up in the life of an earnest soul that captures attention and energy. Sometimes it's a minor irritation or a grievance that draws us away. Other times, it's someone else's problem we feel we must fix. Before we know it, we're caught up in distractions that steer us off the main path, absorbing our focus and effort. We may not do much harm, but we've lost our way and missed the connection to our true purpose.

Let go of these distractions. Let grievances come and go, but press forward steadfastly, crying out, as you rush toward the goal, "This one thing I do."
